Me In a Nutshell

This is a glimpse of some of the things that are important to me.

I am happily married with three great and very active kids living in Kingston, Ontario. I moved here with my wife about 13 years ago from Nova Scotia where I grew up and went to Dalhousie University. I practiced as a physiotherapist at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital for close to 10 years but have spent the last 3 years as a full-time parent.

I am a runner. I started running competitively when I was 15 at the provincial and national level and continued throughout my years at university. After moving to Kingston I eventually got back to competing locally and at large races in Ontario but not to the same extent as in high school and university. I am fortunate to live in a city with a great running community and have been a member of KRRA for some years now. Throughout my life I have competed in events from 400 meters to the marathon. In 2006 I finished the Boston Marathon among the top 500 competitors which was a thrill of a lifetime. Since 2006 I have been struggling with some injuries and have, for the most part, been running non-competitively.

This video is from my Boston Marathon in 2006. I am the guy wearing a Canada singlet crossing at 2:52:04 on the overhead timing clock.

Over the past year I have become a photography enthusiast. I never took pictures until I got my first digital camera in 2004. I began to appreciate the appeal in capturing a moment in time the more I took pictures. I purchased a digital SLR camera last fall and have been madly reading everything I can get my hands on to learn as much as possible about this art. I love outdoor photography primarily including landscapes, flora and fauna and local interests. Of course my kids take up a significant portion of my computer's storage capacity! I have a photostream on Flickr and have been enjoying and learning a tremendous amount in this photo sharing community!
